Intro To Mortalum
Our story begins six centuries ago. A great calamity has arisen to bring forth the inevitable doom of the world. The realm of dreams, often called Limbo, has crashed into the waking world. Spawning endless hordes of monsters that have infested the planet. Living nightmares made flesh called the Eldritch. It was during this time of trouble that the mortal god Parem'Zel used his immense power and mastery of magic to create a high, nigh impenetrable ring of mountains. In a desperate attempt to protect the last remnants of the mortal races. His descendants claiming the throne of a unified empire of all races. Six centuries later and the great black iron wall of Athigard to the north is all that stands between us and the terrible dark that's lies beyond. The only known passage across the mountains. But as time goes own, few remain who still remember the great calamity. The empire is currently on the verge of civil war, all while the true enemy prepares for an assault upon the walls and if it falls, The Doom Begins...
Laws of Fluid Time
Mortalum operates under the rule of fluid time. This means that one member can have their characters roleplaying in different active RP threads at the same time, happening at different times and locations. Now for obvious reasons, we recommend that you never roleplay further then a few weeks or months into the future due to new current events always changing. However the hope is that this makes past RP fair game for anyone who wants to explore it. However in order to keep track of character histories and stop contradictions, we suggest that members create a "PLOTTER" thread in our OOC BOARD with a timeline of each of your characters roleplays in order of when they occurred in game.
Story Progression
Mortalum operates under a chapter system to help progress the overarching story. Occasional events will be announced here, taking place within the in game world that push forward the story. Forcing characters to react to these events on their own time in their own ways. A collection of roleplay threads will make up a chapter with each new chapter beginning with a new event. Each chapter will have its own theme and is heavily influenced by the characters actions.
